A Little Bus Ride To Kathmandu

Born in a grass hut in Zimbabwe in 1928, the author was taken up into the "Big Game Country" at a very early age by her father, camping amongst the wild animals. After World War II, which curtailed any travelling, she completed her nursing training in Oxford. She then spent a year in Switzerland, during which time she joined a friend and hitchhiked all over Italy on an absolute pittance. During her first happy marriage, she had "Hoopla the Lamb" published by Cressrelles and wrote articles about her travels for magazines, but it was after the death of her husband that she began her worldwide treks. She later hung up her boots to marry a retired doctor at the age of nearly 80. Describing those twelve years of travelling, she published "Rediscovering Myself". "A Little Bus Ride To Kathmandu" describes her trip aged 49, which took three months and covered a total of 7,000 miles.
