Thrall: A Norse Slave's Tale

On the eve of her marriage, Catarine climbs the cliffs near her Scottish home to calm her nerves and assuage her misgivings. Looking out across the sea, she discovers Viking longships sailing toward the beach near her father's keep. She scrabbles down the rocks desperate to reach the safety of the keep, but finds the gates barred against her. Seeking shelter in a villager's hut, she is discovered and raped. Afterward, she is thrown aboard a longship, along with six other women from the village. Arriving in Norway, Catarine must adapt to life as a slave. Catarine overhears a threat by two Norsemen to kill their overlord. Telling the Chieftain's son, what she heard, she and Thursten become entangled in the Danish king's plot to overthrow Norway.
